Here are the most recent additions:
Len
Selman,
a retired director from Yatton, recently fished peg 20 using
luncheon meat over sweetcorn, a size 10 hook, 10lb line, close
to the island to take, amongst others, this lovely
double-figured carp.
Scott
Webber has sent us further photos since his last visit (see
below). Among his haul this time from peg 20 were 14lb,
12lb & 10lb mirror carp all falling to catmeat close in the
margins on a float and hair rig with a size 10 hook. Scott had
11 good-sized fish in his bag.

Scott Webber from Sea
Mills, Bristol had a great day fishing and sent us these photos:

Scott mainly used a maggot feeder
with red maggots but caught some fish on a float on the bottom
again with red maggots. He used three maggots on size 12 & 14
hooks and fished to the far side of the carp lake due to the
wind direction on that day. The fish did vary in size but the
tench was Scott's first-ever weighing in at approx 5.75lb, the
mirror carp pictured was about 8lb, the hybrid was 1.75lb and
the common carp was about 5.5lb. The rest of his fish were
all around 3-5lb. He was gutted to lose a mirror carp
estimated to be around 11-12lb having fought a hard battle for
approx 10-15 mins.
Les Headington,
a retired concrete worker, fished peg 1 of the Carp Lake recently
and had this lovely 14lb 5oz linear mirror – a personal
best. Les used a 7 hook and a 10lb line in the left-hand margin
with luncheon meat on the hook and no feed at all. He had a further
2 x 12lb fish on the same day plus a scale-perfect 3lb 2oz crucian
fantail.

Shaun Collins a Field Service Engineer from
Bradley Stoke, caught this beautiful 14.5lb mirror on 23rd October
2007 using a piece of cubed bacon grill from peg 4 of the Carp
Lake in the margins.

Wayne Chapman, from Hartcliffe in Bristol,
caught this beautiful tench from the Match Lake on a 16 hook and
single sweetcorn. It was a 5lb personal best for Wayne.

Mike Barber sent us this great photo of his
Uncle Reg, 88 years young, who caught this twelve and a half pounder
on the North Pool on 6th September 2007.

Tony Coombe of Clevedon brought his 13
year old son Tom fishing to Bullocks Farm on 24th August 2007. He
fished from peg 6 on the carp lake, was feeder fishing and used corn on his
hook. Throughout the day he was catching 6lb and 7lb mirror carp. At about
2.30pm he caught a 12lber, which is the biggest fish he has caught. Tony and
Tom only took up fishing just over a year ago and were kind enough to say
that Bullocks is an ideal location for them.

Richard Latham
sent us this great photo of his son Robert
with the 8.5lb mirror carp he caught from the North Pool. Robert is 11
years old, from Portishead, and has only just taken up fishing. Earlier in
the session he caught a 3lb common carp, his first fish of any size, following
up with this beauty. Robert was fishing with luncheon meat on a size 14 hook,
6lb line and legering in open water. As Richard says "the look on his face says
it all".

Jon Palmer
from Bristol hadn't been down for a while but
tried the North Pool
fishing peg 14 on the pole with a
3lb line, size 12 hook, using bread on the bottom with pellet and bread on the
surface. He was rewarded with 112lb of
carp to 8.5lb! Mate Roy Salmon fished peg
9 on the pole with bread on the surface to take 122lb
of carp to 8lb. Cliff Salmon fished peg
24 with rod and line to the left-hand margins looking for crucians and tench -
caught 51lb plus a few bonus carp for another 22lb.
Jon sent us this great photo of 75lb of fish which made up part of his catch of
112lb.
Thomas Williams,
aged 10, told his Dad, Pete, he wanted to try his
hand on the Carp Lake as a change from the North Pool. He managed to catch his
best fish ever - a 9.5lb mirror from peg 14. He also sent us these
pictures of two lovely 8lbers caught from peg 10, using luncheon meat
float-fished on a size 10 hook. As his Dad says “despite the nervous smile,
he's as happy as a Bristol City fan in the championship!”.
We’ve also
had these fabulous pictures sent to us by Wayne Locker from Essex who
brought his family to stay with us on holiday. Wayne’s Mum, Chris,
caught a lovely 13lb carp with a 4lb line, size 14 hook on a float
rod. His son, Joe, 7, had great success with several fish weighing in
between 8lb – 11lb but his best was another 13lber caught on a
size 6 hook
and 10lb line on meat.

Here's Blake
White, aged 15 from Failand near Bristol with a beautiful common carp from peg
19 of the Carp Lake. He fished tight to the reeds with luncheon meat
ledgered on a size 6 hook over hemp. (This picture isn't a thumbnail, you
can only view it like this).

Sajjad Gani,
aged 15, sent us this pictures is of an 11lb 9oz mirror carp. He caught it
from peg 7 of the Match Lake using floating bread.

This is
a super 15lb carp caught from the Carp Lake by
George Mundell staying with us
on holiday in the Six House. (This picture isn't a thumbnail, you can only
view it like this).
(Just
to confuse you, this photo isn't a thumbnail this is as big as it gets!).
Ryan Pople, aged 7 years and 9 months
sent us this super little report and photo:
"Fishing on Saturday 16th June 2007, peg 13
(unlucky for some but not for me). When we arrived it was raining for
the first 3 hrs then the sun came out for the rest off the day.
Fishing approx 3 and a half feet deep, using 8 pound line straight through
to a size 16 barbless hook using sweet corn as bait and loose feeding 4 mm
sinking pellets little and often, fishing 1 foot from the bank under the
tree on the left off the swim, I hooked my fish at 12.30 a ten minute battle
followed - the fish managed to get under a tree root but I got him out. My
Dad netted it for me - it weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces (my first ever double).
My dad was jealous as he has never caught a double! This formed part of a 12
fish catch, the others were all around the 2 pound mark. My Dad did catch
his first ever fan tail which, although very pretty, only weighed 6
ounces! Thank you for a fantastic day, we will be back soon. From Ryan Pople aged 7years and 9 months .
Well done for beating your Dad Ryan!
Here's an e-mail we received from Ian
Arthurs:
"Had a cracking day,
caught 20 good decent sized carp (8 - 10lb) from the North pond. All caught
of small pieces of meat fished in the margins, over pellet. Took my friend
Fred Barber with me Carp fishing for the first time, and here's a pic of the
first carp he caught".

Paul Cooper, Jordan Cooper & Tom Burton
fished on the carp lake using strawberry luncheon meat. Here are a few of
the fish they caught:

Here's a recent e-mail from Jason Ashley:
Hi, here are a few I caught on Saturday
26th May on the Carp Pool, peg 8 - all on dog biscuit off the surface.
I had a good afternoon's sport. The ghost koi was 8lb and I also had
several more mirrors and commons ranging from 5-7lb. All in all a
good afternoon. Also my Dad caught a 7lb mirror on light tackle and
centre pin reel - well done Dad!

Michael Mitchell, one of our season
ticket holders, let us have these super photos of some of his recent
catches:

Sajjad Gani, 15, from Long Ashton
caught his first ghost carp from peg 21 of the Carp Lake on a hair rig with
some luncheon meat on a size 10 hook.

He also caught these 2 carp from pegs 7
and, 8. They were caught on luncheon meat on a ledger. The biggest
weighed 11lb 11 oz and the next one was 9lb 6oz. They were also caught
on a size 10 hook with luncheon meat on hair rig,10lbs line and they fed on
sweetcorn and pineapple pellets.
Blake White, aged 15 from Failand near
Bristol, caught this beautiful 14lb mirror - his personal best - from peg 1
of the Carp Lake. Blake tempted the fish with luncheon meat ledgered
on a size 6 hook.

Alan Moulsdale & son Theo of Brislington in
Bristol sent us this cracking report and photos:
Jason Ashley sent us these super photos
of his daughters Kimberley (8.5) and Caitlin (5.5) on
their first ever fishing trip. They caught using maggots in the
margins of Rushcombe Lake on Easter Sunday afternoon.

Russell Oliver,
retired
builder from Bristol, caught a beautiful 9lb 3oz common on his
favourite peg 16 of the North Pool.
He has now bettered this with this lovely
16lber from peg 13 of the Carp Lake which made up part of a 100lb+ bag -
his personal best.

Here's a great report from Ian Hughes
of Weston super Mare: "Hi Phil, fished on Tuesday on the North Pool,
thought you may like these shots for the web page. Over 60lb of carp,
crucians and fantails caught on North Pool the day it was bitterly cold."
Ian has also kindly put reports on
www.maggotdrowning.com aka poleboy101 - go to the forums 'where you
fished'.

Brothers Shane & Scott McLoughlin from
Bristol fished pegs 5 & 6 of the Carp Lake and caught 11 fish, all over 8lbs in
weight. Scott's biggest was a 15lb 8oz mirror and Shane's biggest were
13lb 4oz & 11lb 6oz mirrors. The brothers fished close to the island
with 10lb line and 15lb hair rig - all the fish fell to luncheon meat on the
hook and they fed sweetcorn and hemp.

Paul Worrell and friends stayed here on
holiday again this year and ended their stay with a match on Rushcombe Lake.
Paul won the contest with 59lb and there were excellent back up weights too as
you can see. Here are the lads with part of their catches:

James White
fished the Carp Lake with his friend Dan and younger brother Oli and all had a
great day as can be seen from these fantastic photos. They used pellet
over pellet on the bottom in the morning and went on to dog biscuit later in the
day. James finished up with 80lb including fish to 8lbs, Dan ended up
with 90lb which included a common of 12.5lb and a super ghostie weighing in at
8lb. Oli, who's only 13, had a magnificent 92lb including two doubles to
13lb. The pictures speak for themselves!

Chris Kibbey and Jon Rudd fished
pegs 3 & 4 of the Carp Lake on their first visit to Bullocks in June.
Chris' largest fish was a superb 16lb mirror caught using luncheon meat.
Jon's largest was a lovely 9lb mirror using a squid/mussel paste. They
had regular bites throughout the day and are already planning their next trip
here. Chris on the left, Jon on the right.

How
about this for a lovely photograph and e-mail sent to us by Ivon Maslowski:

“On
the 30th May 2006 I came down to your lakes with my daughter Hannah Maslowski,
aged 5 from Bristol. When I said we were going fishing all she wanted was to
catch one carp. As it happened she caught 14 carp from Rushcombe Lake. She
fished with a pole using light tackle and maggots. It was her first-ever fishing
trip and she was delighted with the results. She will definitely be coming
again, in fact she cannot wait to come down. I cannot thank you enough for
letting her fish at your complex.”
Jensen Mannings stayed
with his Dad and younger cousin on our Camping & Caravanning Club site at
the beginning of June. This is a
lovely carp he caught from peg 6 of the Carp Lake.
Jensen says: “I fished with my top 3 sections in the margins when
suddenly my float disapeared under. The elastic I was using was a 12 so it went
mad I had the fish on for about 30 mins when it went on a wild run to my left.
I thought I was snagged because I could no longer feel the fish pulling, I
pulled my pole up wards and a twig started to emerge then completely out of
expectation the fish was still there. It
took me a good 20 mins after that before landing it. As
soon as I got it in the net I was relieved”
Husband and wife team, Neil and Carole
Thomas both recently achieved their personal best here at Bullock
Farm. Carole managed to beat Neil with this beautiful 11lb 12oz mirror
from peg 4 of the Carp Lake. Neil's equally beautiful (but not quite so
heavy!) mirror, weighed in at 9lb 6oz from peg 2 of the Carp Lake.

Carole has since topped
this with 'Mike Tyson' (the fish fought hard!) who weighed in at 12lb 4oz -
her report and photo appear below:
"It was about 6.30 - 7.00
p.m. when I put my last bit of bait in and last grain of sweetcorn on the
hook. We were thinking that we had better be going soon, when all of a
sudden the float dipped. Well, what a fight, this fish fought for about
an hour. I was fishing my pole with 20 elastic, 6lb line and a 12 hook.
The fish was staying very deep so I thought it might be a good one, I wasn't
going to rush it. Then it went into the nearside bank to the left of me
(peg 14 Carp Lake) the line went slack, I thought it had snagged me up and
broke the line, so I started to tug at the line, putting quite a bit of force
on it, in order to free it. All of a sudden there was a load of slapping
and flapping and he came back into play, amazing! I nicknamed him Mike
Tyson because he fought so hard. Just as Neil got the net under him for
me, the line snapped, we just managed to net it."

And now... their godson, Fergus
has caught his personal best from
the Carp Lake. After one that got away in the reeds, he had a take from
this lovely 6lb 14oz mirror carp. Fergus had only fished on
Rushcombe before, last September, catching 46 small carp in a joint effort with
Carole, but he managed to catch this one himself with just a bit of guidance.
Here’s a photo:

Here's Gary Worlock from Bristol with a

had another great day with my brother, dad and friend Dan. I fished on the
Match Lake with my Dad and Dan wile my brother Oli fished on the Carp Lake.
